Disengagement letter Respective Responsibilities - allow editing

Feedback on disengagement letters 1:

In the disengagement letter there is a paragraph titled "Respective Responsibilities". The text is too generic (not detailed enough) for what most other accountants ask for. It currently just says we will provide

  • a copy of the last set of accounts formally approved by you

  • a detailed trial balance that is in agreement with the accounts referred to above

It also says these words for a self assessment which is incorrect.

In my personal opinion, it should refer to at least Corporation Tax (if a limited company) and also we would always handover the working papers to a set level to help the new accountant. We also don't charge a fee for the information we send as we are ethically bound to provide information to help the new accountant.

If it instead read something like " we will provide the information requested by your new accountant upon receipt of this request to enable them to work with you in the future. We reserve the right to charge a fee to the person requesting the information if the information request is excessive"

I'm sure they're not the right words form a legal standpoint but it is just too basic and excludes significant areas at the moment.

Feedback on disengagement letters 2:

We don’t offer a registered office facility because we don’t have an office. It would be great if we were able to remove this paragraph from the disengagement letter.
